Laboratory & Testing
More information when examination alone cannot tell the full story
Blood, urine and other laboratory tests can provide valuable information about what is happening inside your pet’s body. At Vets Barn in Longhope, testing may be recommended to investigate symptoms, monitor an ongoing condition, check response to treatment or support decisions before a procedure.

- Ongoing Monitoring
Not every test produces an immediate answer and some samples may need to be sent to an external laboratory. We will let you know what turnaround to expect and how we will contact you once results are available.
Turning symptoms into useful clinical information
Preventative healthcare is most useful when it reflects real life. A house cat, a working dog and a pet that travels abroad do not necessarily face the same risks, so we use your pet’s routine and history to guide the conversation rather than treating every animal identically.
-
Targeted Testing
We recommend tests based on your pet’s clinical signs and the questions we are trying to answer. Investigation is always vital.
-
Health Monitoring
Repeat testing can help track changes in organ function, blood values or response to medication over time.
-
Clear Results
We will explain what the results mean in the context of your pet and whether any further investigation is advised.
-
Faster Decisions
In-house and laboratory testing can help us reach a diagnosis sooner and plan the most appropriate next steps.
